Cowboys from Hell - Pantera

그놈이 왔다.

 

어디서 굴러 나온 놈인지 파리 한 마리가 내 주위를 '위잉 위잉' 소리를 내며 거슬리게 내 주변을 어슬렁거리기 시작했다. 그냥 자기 혼자 조용히 내 시야에서 없어졌더라면 가만히 있었겠지만 아니나 다를까 녀석은 날 은근히 괴롭히는 걸 즐겼나 보다.

분노 게이지도 충분히 채워졌겠다, 나는 한국에서 공수해온 5000원짜리 전기 파리채를 들어 올리며 생각했다. '드디어 너를 쓰게 되는 날이 왔구나.' 정신없이 날아다니는 파리를 두 눈 똑바로 뜬 채 바라보며, 마치 카우보이들이 자신들의 리볼버에 손을 올리고 서로 눈치 보며 알맞은 슈팅 타이밍을 노리듯이 나는 파리에 초 집중하기 시작했다.

서로 견제하며 얼마나 시간이 지났을까. 그때 파리 자식이 힘들었나 본 지 아니면 세수하려나 본 지 창가 쪽에 비행을 멈추고 나선 쉬기 시작했다. 기회다.

'팍!!!'

 

'치직' 파리가 감전돼서 기절했나 보다. 움직이질 않는다. '으흐흐... 으이. 이히히히... 하하하하하ㅏ하하하하하하하ㅏ하하하하하하핳하핳하!'이 말로 표현할 수 없는 엄청난 쾌감! '감히 너 따위가 나한테 덤비더냐'라고 나는 생각했다. 하지만 여기서 멈추면 안 된다. 파리는 날파리보다 생명력이 강하기 때문에 긴장을 놓으면 안 된다.

"No Mercy, 자비란 없어."
힘없이 바닥에서 꿈틀거리는 파리, 나는 파리채 전원 버튼을 누르며 확인사살을 한다.

 

'칰 치지지지직 지짖 지지지... 지직 칙!'탄 냄새가 슬며시 올라오며 위대한 처형은 그렇게 막을 내렸다.

지옥에서 온 카우보이, 나는 이 험난한 결투에서 승리를 거머쥐고 저 멀리 붉은 노을을 감상하며 쓸쓸히 휴지 뽑으러 터벅터벅 내 갈 길을 떠났다.
